Building a new Egypt

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak declared yesterday that he will seek a historic fifth term. The long-awaited news comes on the heels of last week's deadly terror attacks at Sharm el-Sheikh, which killed 88 people and left Egypt's tourism industry reeling.

Egypt's perpetual emergency

As Egypt grieves over Saturday's bombing at Sharm el-Sheikh, Egyptians worry that they will be victims twice over - in lives lost, but also in livelihoods threatened as tourists leave the country. What also remains to be seen is the extent to which the vicious attacks will claim yet another victim: Egypt's nascent democracy reform movement.
