Matt Herbert is a Masters candidate at The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, concentrating in international security studies and international trafficking operations. His current research focuses on the nature and development of drug trafficking related violence in Mexico. Prior to attending The Fletcher School, Matt lived and worked in the U.S. southwest. He has spent time as a threats analyst, dealing with transnational armed groups, drug trafficking, and human trafficking issues. Matt also worked as a special assistant for Governor Bill Richardson of New Mexico, handling political and legislative affairs. Matt graduated from the College of Santa Fe in 2006 with a double Bachelors of Arts in Political Science and Documentary Studies, and a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Photography. He has spent time researching issues of economic development, human security and public diplomacy in Mongolia, Mozambique, and Brazil.
