William C. Martel, Associate Professor of International Security Studies

In response to Tony Blair’s announcement of an impending reduction of British forces in Iraq, Professor Martel discusses the concept of ‘victory’ in Iraq. He argues that, while the common notion of victory in war is, in many ways, inadequate, as the nature of the conflict in Iraq changes, so too can the overarching goals, and thus, the definition of victory.
